appointments and phone calls

For routine problems, please call during our regular office hours.  Our phone nurses have over 40 years combined experience to answer your questions.  If you desire an appointment, they can schedule that for you.  If you wish to speak directly to one of the physicians or nurse practitioners they will be happy to return your call when they are available.

If you have a problem outside regular office hours, and it cannot wait until the next day, please call our office number, 528-9700 or 877-2757, and follow the recorded instructions.

In the event of an emergency, please take your child to the nearest emergency room or dial 911. If you believe that your child has eaten or drank a hazardous substance please call the Kentucky Regional Poison Center at 1-800-222-1222 as they are best equipped to handle those questions.

As a rule, we do not phone in prescriptions for cold medicines or over-the-counter medicines after hours, and we do not phone in antibiotic prescriptions without evaluating your child first in the office.

A WELL CHILD CHECKUP

is a health maintenance appointment for a child with no significant ongoing problems or concerns. At this appointment your provider will evaluate your child’s growth and development, answer general questions about your child, advise you on safety and development, and give immunizations if indicated.

You may request a specific provider, if desired, but, we cannot guarantee that your request will be granted due to the providers’ call and vacation schedules.


 

A PROBLEM VISIT

is a visit to address an ongoing (non-acute) problem. Typically these are used for patients who have a problem or concern of several weeks or months duration, and they may require more time than a typical sick visit.

Please request additional time slots if you feels that you need it. This allows us to more appropriately schedule our time to meet your needs.

A SICK VISIT

is a visit for a child who is acutely ill. These visits are typically offered on the same day that you call, although they may be scheduled for the next day, if needed.

If you have more than one child who is ill, please let the nurse know so that she can allow appropriate time slots for you.
